The KISS Principle

Regardless of age, sex, and location, a lot of people want to build muscular strength. But strength is just one measurement for a healthy human being. And anyway, if you want to get big and strong, everything else has to grow to fuel each pound of dense flesh. Heart has to get stronger, lungs more efficient, muscles more limber, joints gotta thicken, movement needs to feel fluid.

Based on the central goal you have, you will still have to balance your effort in all the others. To build a solid body, you have to balance your food, sleep, and mentality. What is hardest about building balanced total body strength is neither the what or the how. What’s hard is staying focused, committed and consistent. It is a hygiene and a habit. You only grow with consistency.

My goal here is to centralize concise instructions on the matter, share my own progress, and inspire some folks to get moving. My biases are toward strength building programs, wrestling fundamentals & basic gymnastics. If you want to age healthily or otherwise do anything cool with your body, you’ll need to develop your general physical preparedness. It was what I needed at the start of this journey and I found that a mix of weightlifting, wrestling and tumbling helped tremendously. Be consistent, put in good effort, keep it simple.
